BOOK FEATURES : STUPID IS FOREVER, 1 PAGE AT A TIME, AND PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS : THE ULTIMATE GUIDE!

Hi Readers! Again, I'm very sorry for my two weeks of absence. It's pretty hard to balance school, rest, blogging, personal life, social life, projects, assignments, practices (for events) etc. all at the same time especially that I'm just a 7th Grade students/ a 13-year-old boy.

It's what I call Book Features! Book features are different from book reviews.  Book features are featuring books that basically doesn't have stories. A lot of books are like that. It's like compilation of speeches, guides, journals, etc. And basically, a book review is a review about the actual story of the books.

Sense of humor is almost absent among politicians, but Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago is a truly talented exception. People are puzzled how she can spontaneously make them laugh in the midst of national policy crises, and of real danger to her life as a corruption fighter.
This book is a collection of jokes, one-liners, pick-up lines, conebacks and speeches delivered and/or curated by the beloved Senator. Also, inside are illustrations by Cj de Silva-Ong, Manix Abrera, Elbert Or, Rob Cham and more of the Philippines' best young illustrators.

About the Author:

She earned the degree, Doctor of Juridical Science, in the United States. Dr. Miriam Defensor Santiago is a globally famous personality, because of her legal brilliance and courageous example in fighting corruption.  In a nation where many public officials are charged with, or suspected, of plunder, her honesty shines like a light in the darkness. She has brought honor to the Philippines in several ways.
She is the first Filipino and the first Asian from a developing country, to be elected in the United Nations as judge of the International Criminal Court. The ICC hears cases against heads of state.  Thus, she put the Philippines on the global map in the 21st century.  Unfortunately, grave illness forced her to waive the privilege of being an ICC judge.
For two years, she suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome. In June 2014 she was diagnosed with lung cancer, stage 4 (the last stage). But with her signature humor and bravery, she fought back, and her cancer has regressed.  Even cancer cells are afraid of her!

She was chosen as laureate of the Magsaysay Award for Government Service, known as the Asian equivalent of the Nobel Prize. She was cited “for bold and moral leadership in cleaning up a graft-ridden government agency.” She was named one of “The 100 Most Powerful Women in the World” by The Australian magazine.

Review:

I'll use a couple of words to describe the book and I'll explain it. ( a literary technique I learned from some authors )

  • Not an ordinary love story. I'm pretty sure a lot of you guys hate or don't like cliche love stories. Believe me I don't too. This book is a romance/love story book alright, but it's more than that. Find out for yourself.
  • Realistic & Fictional at the same time. This book, the story in it, the characters, really exist in real life, well not all of it. It amazes me how Sir Crilley gave life to his characters without removing the true-to-life effect. And how he introduced the fictional part of the story without ruining or rush the story. I'm also amazed that the story contains parts of mythology, suspense, mystery, etc. Haha. The book will give you a crazy feeling after finishing it.
  • Awesome characters. Every character portrays very different roles that gives a wonderful effect. From Miki who wants a change in his life, to Yumi who's an awesome, cheerful, yet naughty friend, to Hiro Sakurai who's very mysterious but everyone wants to befriend with. And other awesome fictional characters like Mother Freya and Anra that you guys should see.
  • Every part of the story will give you the "fasten your seat belt" moment. You should not miss  every moment/part in the story. Every page skipped will change your perspective or opinion about the book. Every page is worth reading.
  • Unexpected twist of events. The story, in the beginning, will have a normal story effect or in simpler words, it'll look plain, boring or simple. But as you read and read every page of the book, you'll have another question in your mind that'll encourage you to read it further. Like "what's in the basement?", "why is he weird?", or "what's he hiding?".

The words/sentences I used, I hope will encourage you to read it! It's very an awesome read.

Reading with Luigi gives Spring a

4 books! (4/5)
