"What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.  From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets."

About the Author:

Marie Lu is the art director at Online Alchemy, a video game company, and also owns the children’s brand Fuzz Academy. She was first inspired to write Legend while watching Les
Miserables one afternoon, and wondered how the relationship between a famous criminal vs. a prodigious detective might translate into a more modern story. She graduated from the University of Southern California in 2006 and lives in Los Angeles, California.

Review:

So, here are A LOT OF REASONS  why I liked and recommend the so-wonderful-cliffhanger-heartbreaking-book:
  • Legend is an action-packed, fantastic, epic, and highly recommendable science fiction dystopia book. Do I need to say more? The book's purely ASDFKJHGIHGOLP.
  • The cover gives a catchy/mysterious effect. This adds to the "powerful" feeling which I know a lot of us has noticed. The cover's simple yes, but it makes us very curious on what the cover reveals. Which, believe me, is not very disappointing.
  • Awesome characters. The characters are all awesome. Marie Lu did a great job in giving justice to the characters and how they're supposed to be like in the story. June really showed a fine attitude regarding the Republic. And Day is the most bad but kind-hearted towards the citizens/ the republic. Which made the story much much much much much interesting. (Did I convince you enough? xD)
  • Great character development. Marie Lu showed and gave emphasis on how June and Day developed for the better and became closer to each other. Well, as for Thomas. I liked then hated him. Which made Lu's writing style excellent.
  • The story was perfectly flowing from the beginning up to the end. The story wasn't too rushed and the sequence of events didn't ruin the story.
  • Marie Lu wrote the book intelligently.  Queen Lu used smart choices of words to describe the events, settings, personalities, etc. in the book. She's as smart as June and Day. She would probably even have a perfect score in the Trial. xD
  • You just can put down the book. You'll never feel the time pass while reading the book. It'll even make you nervous if you're reading it right. It's the kind of book which's perfect fro vacations/weekends.
  • Not an ordinary dystopia. The book's absolutely amazing!
  • The switch of POV's gave much clearer scenes in the book. For those who haven't read the book, the book actually is a continuous pattern of switch POV's between Day and June. This made the story clearer especially in June's POV (Spoiler Alert! this part only, please skip this part only.) since she came to the poor sectors in which Day is part of. It also helped us understand the romance part of the book. Further, the switch of POV's as the execution day of Day (awkward. xD) is getting near also helped us understand the plan of June with the Kaede and how it worked since the execution day was moved to an earlier schedule. THE END WAS JUST.
Reading with Luigi gives Legend by Marie Lu a
5 books! (Perfect)

Favorite Quote:
"Each day means a new twenty-four hours. Each day means everything's possible again. You live in the moment, you die in the moment, you take it all one day at a time."

Review: "Legend by Marie Lu is a dystopian novel filled with great and imaginable action scenes, shocking twists and revelations, and sufficient servings of romance. If you're a fan of novels like Divergent or THG, you might want to give this a try. Every page is worth reading and Marie Lu's writing style was impeccable."

Review: "Legend is not just another DYSTOPIAN STORY (THG & Divergent). What makes it different? The setting is almost real... Marie Lu just showed her readers what the world might be in the future. And the idea of an inhabitable Antartica?! That's keeewl. Also, the characters are fully developed that I almost see through the eyes of June Iparis. This is one of those few books where I get to REALLY PICTURE the characters physically. Finally, it's heartbreaking which drawn the readers's sympathy to the main characters. There's just so many deaths. If I were there? I might put a bullet in my skull too. For those who's a sucker for DYSTOPIAN stories, like me, Legend is a good read. "

Review: "This book kept me sitting on the edge of my bed (literally) cherishing every chapter of the book. As I read through its pages and nurture its content, I can say that their intelligence was so inaccurate but then I figured that it is a dystopia-type novel, particularly focusing on a new world. But well, it bugged me back then thinking how fast illogical is linked to logic itself. Reading Legend also taught me things we do everyday, how people have differences, how money affects our lives, and how much can we give up for the sanctity of life. That way, I can see how positive our lives can by surviving each day and fulfilling what has to be done. I learned that ending each day is not the end of our lives, thus, urging us to begin again tomorrow carrying a new hope with us."

If my efforts, didn't convince you to buy the book. I don't know what will. HAHAHA. Happy New Year everyone! Keep safe!
